Maintaining your Relevance in the LORD!
Time is changing, brothers and sisters! We live in a complex, pluralistic, quasi-religious, multi-focused world where there is great tension between science and religion. How can a Christian maintain relevance in this world?
When the post-exilic temple was completed, some people were discouraged and disillusioned because they viewed the present temple as “nothing” compared to the magnificence of the first temple built by Solomon, as written in our Bible reading today. Hence, God encouraged the people with three promises: (a) God Himself would be with them to fulfill all His covenant promises, (b) God’s Spirit would remain among the people, and (c) the latter glory of God’s house would be greater than the former because of the great demonstration of His power there, that is, the ministry of Jesus and the apostles as recorded in the Gospel’s and the book of Acts.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, for these promises of God to manifest, we must maintain our relevance till we earn and receive that eternal crown and hear that voice that says, “Well done and welcome home”!
We must make God the focal point of our lives to maintain relevance to the end. If you are born again and have a strong and consistent relationship with God, you can never lose your relevance. Our God is All-knowing and All-powerful! He has the whole world and all that exists (Psalm 24:1-2). He can do whatever He wants at any time: Psalm 135:6; “Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in the earth, in the seas, and all deep places.”
He gives life and death as it pleases Him: Deuteronomy 32:39;” See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.”
Our lives belong to Him, so we shall be wise to focus on Him to maintain our relevance in this world and in heaven.
It is wise to ask God what He wants you to do! God has some specific tasks in mind for you to do because He has created you as a unique person, and no one can be you. So, if you have not identified your purpose, seek it through inquiry prayers, accept it, understand it, get directions on achieving it, and set realistic goals, visions, and dreams. Make friends with God’s friends who are Christ-minded, have a Christ-minded mentor who believes in your dream, and stay focused through God’s guidance and help, as it is written in 1 Peter 2:9; “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:” (KJV).
LET US PRAY:
•O LORD my Father, You are not just Big or Fat, but the Great God; therefore, manifest Your Greatness in my life and family, in the name of Jesus Christ.
•O LORD, my Deliverer, the Author and the Finisher of my Faith, give me grace to maintain relevance on earth and in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ.
•My Mighty Man in Battle that unseated Pharaoh and his hosts that disgraced Goliath and Herod, unseat anything and anyone seating or keeping all that are supposed to make me and my household great in the land of the living, in the name of Jesus Christ! Amen
